Microwaves are essential appliances required for quickly heating up food, including leftovers. As a result, when they become faulty, it can impede our cooking routines.
1. Check that the microwave is plugged in, the power cord is secure, and the electrical outlet is working by testing it with another appliance.
2. Check your home's circuit breaker to see if it's tripped.
3. If the outlet and breaker are OK, the problem could be a faulty interna control board or power supply, which will require an engineer.
1. Check that the door is closing properly and latching securely.
2. Check the microwave's controls to make sure the power level isn't set to zero or that a control lock isn't activated.
3. If these steps don't work, the magnetron (the component that generates microwaves) may be faulty and need replacing by a technician.
1. Ensure the turntable, roller guide, and drive coupler aren't blocked or damaged and are seated properly on the motor shaft.
2. If the motor itself is faulty, it will need replacing by a professional.
1. Immediately remove any metal objects from inside the microwave.
2. Clean any food residue or grease from the waveguide cover, because this can cause sparking.
3. If the waveguide cover is damaged or burned, it will need replacing,
1. Check for overheating by making sure air vents aren't blocked and the cooling fan is working properly.
2. A malfunctioning door switch or faulty control board can cause the microwave to stop mid-cycle.
1. Listen for the source of the noise. It could be the cooling fan's blades hitting a shroud, vibrating sheet metal, the transformer, or the turntable hitting something.
2. Inspect the fan, turntable, and drive motor for issues as they might need cleaning or replacing.

Always cover food with a microwave-safe lid or a paper towel before heating to prevent splatters and messy build-up inside the oven. Furthermore, make sure the cover has a vent to allow steam to escape.

Clean up spills and splatters as soon as they happen. Dried-on food is much harder to remove, so quick clean-ups significantly lower the need for deep cleaning sessions.

Wipe the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth at least once per week to prevent food residue from hardening and accumulating. Use a mild detergent for particularly dirty spots.

Place a bowl with water and lemon slices/1 tablespoon of vinegar in the microwave and heat on high for a few minutes until the inside is steamy. Leave the door closed for 10-15 minutes to allow steam to loosen stubborn food and grime. Carefully remove the hot bowl and wipe the interior with a sponge or cloth. Remove and wash the glass tray and roller ring in a warm, soapy water or a dishwasher.
